Worship Series – To Hope and Act with Creation: A Season of Creation Worship Guide

ed. Alissa Bender; Karla Stoltzfus Detweiler; Sandy Plett

2024, 16 pp

In a time when the groans of creation are growing in intensity, we are invited to join Christians all over the world in marking the Season of Creation – six weeks of worship, prayer, and action dedicated to the healing of our common home. The Season of Creation is an annual celebration that begins on September 1, the Day of Prayer for Creation, and culminates on October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christians. This is a Season of Creation resource with an Anabaptist lens.

Prayer Series – Season of Creation: Year A – Let Justice Roll Down

by Mark Bigland-Pritchard; Len Rempel

2023, 11 pp

At a time when the vulnerability of God’s creation to human activity has become a matter of vital concern, we have an opportunity to focus on appreciating and better understanding the “natural” world, and to work on restoring our relationship with it under God. The 2023 focus is “Let justice roll down” (Amos 5:24) — a reminder that the way we relate to the rest of creation affects the livelihood of our fellow human beings, both locally and globally.

To mark this time, we have prepared prayers for each Sunday during the Season of Creation fitting a theme in one of the passages in the Revised Common Lectionary for that day. There are also PowerPoint slides that can be used to assist your congregation. The prayers may be read in unison or by designated leaders. Scripture references may be read out loud by the leader.

Year Three of the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund’s Education Focus, Creation Care: Climate Action!

A healthy planet is integral to healthy people.

In the third and final year of this education focus we examine the intersections of climate change and health; how planetary and ecosystem health – or lack thereof – directly affect human health.

Learning Module 3.1 – Healthy Planet, Healthy People

This is the first of two learning modules for this theme, and it focusses on the Communion Forest initiative of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

We will explore the importance of trees and reforestation by learning from our partners, reflecting biblically, and considering opportunities for action and giving. The module can be used in a group setting, online or in person, as a whole in one session, or in part over a series of shorter sessions. It can also be used by individuals. Session guide, presentation slides and Bible Tree Quiz available at the above link.
