Season of Creation 2025

August 16, 2025

This year’s theme for the Season of Creation (September 1 to October 4) is “Peace with Creation.” With that theme comes a call: “To hope is to act, pray, change, and reconcile with Creation and the Creator in unity, metanoia (repentance), and solidarity.” The Season of Creation website offers resources including theological reflection, a celebration guide, and more.

For the Love of Creation notes the following key moments in Canada during the Season of Creation. If you have events to add to this calendar, please email flc.pac@gmail.com.

September 1 – World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation

Check your inbox on Monday, September 1 for a contemplative resource with prayers, reflection prompts, art and more from For the Love of Creation. Find a moment of contemplation and use this resource to mark the start of the Season of Creation.

Globally, Christians are also invited to join an online prayer service to come together in a joyful celebration of our common cause. Online prayer service will be held on September 1 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. CEST (Central European Time).

September 20 – Draw the Line – National Day of Action

On Saturday, September 20, people across Canada and the world will rise up to Draw the Line — for People, for Peace, for the Planet. People of faith will join a historic and broad-based coalition and mobilization to demand that Prime Minister Carney and the Canadian government pick a side: injustice, violence, and climate destruction— or a just and safe future for all of us. This movement is about justice in every part of our lives, standing united with Indigenous, migrant, economic, racial, and anti-war movements to build a better future together. Learn more about the Draw the Line campaign.

Some members of For the Love of Creation have endorsed this national campaign including Citizens for Public Justice, KAIROS Canada, the Office of Religious Congregations for Integral Ecology, and others.

Here’s How You Can Take Action:

Endorse the Draw the Line campaign: As an individual or organization, add your name and voice to this growing movement.  Encourage your members in your newsletter to endorse too.

Spread the word: Share the campaign widely — on social media, in your newsletters, with your community. Use your voice to amplify this movement.

Help organize or support an event: Get involved locally to support or host an event in your area. Check out the map of Canadian events so far. Mobilize people of faith from your place of worship, local network or organization to participate.

Contribute funds or in-kind support: Contact local organizers to support their efforts.

Join us and help make faith communities visible in this broad-based mobilization for people, peace, and planet!

September 21 – International Day of Peace

Hosted annually by the United Nations, the 2025 theme for the International Day of Peace is Act Now for a Peaceful World. FLC acknowledges the connections between loving creation and working for peace. In Canada, Christians are invited to join a Prayer Walk for Peace in support of the ministry of The Canadian Council of Churches. Learn more about the President’s Prayer Walk for Peace.

September 26 – National Rally to End Corporate Abuse

For many years, Canadian companies have been linked to widespread violations of human rights, workers’ rights, and serious environmental destruction throughout their global operations and supply chains. On Friday, September 26, at 12pm, please join members of the Canadian Coalition for Corporate Accountability on Parliament Hill in Ottawa as they rally in solidarity with impacted communities around the world to change the systems that enable corporate impunity. Learn more about the National Rally to End Corporate Abuse.
